Two Victims Named in the Providence Campus Incident as Law Enforcement Persist in Search for Killer.

Both young individuals who lost their lives in the weekend's mass shooting on the university campus had tributes paid to them on Monday – as a manhunt for their killer carried on following the freeing by authorities in Rhode Island of the sole person detained in connection in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

The student Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was described as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, according to the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a service on Sunday.

She served as vice-president of Brown’s chapter of the campus GOP group, the group said. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also posted condolences publicly, saying in part: “Words cannot express. Remembering her loved ones and companions, particularly her mother and father.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The other person killed was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his initial year at the prestigious university, according to relatives.

His name was verified by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. He had big dreams of becoming a neurosurgeon and assisting patients,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a tribute.

Details of the Attack

An additional nine individuals were wounded in the violent event in the engineering building of Brown’s university in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Law enforcement reported late Sunday that a 24-year-old male taken into custody in a police operation at a Hampton Inn about 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“We have a murderer out there,” stated Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you need to change course and go in another, and this is precisely what occurred over the last 24 hours or so.”

Community Anxiety

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, noted: “We know that this is likely to cause renewed concern for our city”.

The gunman began shooting inside a lecture hall in the engineering building on Saturday, discharging in excess of 40 shots from a 9mm pistol, a police source informed the news agency.

Police that raided the lodging found a pair of pistols and magazines when the suspect was detained, as was reported.

The Wounded Victims

Regarding the nine injured, one pupil was released from the hospital, mentioned Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. An additional seven were in grave but unchanging health, and another was critically ill, officials reported on Sunday.

An educational institution, a private K-12 school in the city of Durham, said a recent graduate, Kendall Turner, was in the group of seriously hurt victims.

The US ambassador, Jonathan Henick, said he was “extremely sorrowful” by the student's death in a tribute. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to Mr Umurzokov’s family, loved ones, and fellow students and mourn the loss of his bright future.”
