Throughout a commanding display, England clinched one more triumph against Albania, with a number of squad members turning in notable displays on the pitch.

First-choice XI

Dean Henderson Had little to do to perform before the break but then tested from an opponent's bent shot. A sliding challenge against an Albanian attacker showed excellent reading of the game. Six out of ten

The debutant Examined against the opposition's primary attacker in Hoxha. Played more centrally early on then shifted wider after a teammate came on. Seven

The defender Moved forward on the ball, something he's known for in the past. On occasion lacked urgency when carrying play with the tactic was shelved at half-time. 6/10

Dan Burn A constant threat on corners and free-kicks, typically, perhaps is an alternative for Stones at the back rather than alongside him. A loose distribution after the break nearly resulted in an opener from the visitors. 6

Nico O’Reilly A further confident performance by the youngster after his first cap against another side. A teammate did not capitalize on the opportunity from a clever flick behind the Albania defence. The role is his to lose at this stage. 7/10

The newcomer His first start with the national team. Slightly careless in possession though his whipped set-pieces were a threat. An effective tempo-setter available to the boss to call upon versus teams who drop deep. Booked after a reckless tackle. 6/10

The midfielder Deliveries from corners and set-plays created chances. Enjoyed room to roam on the left but was in an offside position as the pass came in shooting positions. Given a well-earned break after an hour. 6

The star midfielder Played in an advanced spot on the right and also did plenty of defensive duties. Showed glimpses of brilliance but mishit an attempt high. Replaced late on for Rogers, his rival, following a yellow card. 7

The winger Had England’s top opening before halftime, his effort well saved from Thomas Strakosha. With a teammate holding position, it fell to him to offer an outlet on the right but his crosses into the box varied in quality. Replaced for the final quarter-hour. 6/10

The captain The decisive figure netting two more goals for his country. His first a classic close-range tap-in while the second an excellent headed goal following a clever run off his defender. Now 32, he continues to improve and the side stand a real opportunity in future competitions with him leading the line. 8

The attacker Struggled to make an impact from the left. Was presented with a good opening after being played in by the midfielder yet the keeper kept it out. His replacement made much more of effect when substituted. 5/10
