Patrick Bamford has joined the Championship side just half a year following starting disrespectful songs targeting the team's coach, Wilder.

The 32-year-old striker, without a club after departing from Leeds United, has agreed to a deal joining the second-tier strugglers until January. Bamford's seven-year career with Leeds was ended by mutual consent in August.

One of the player's last memorable actions while at Leeds involved leading offensive songs regarding Wilder amid the club’s success festivities this spring. Now, the one-cap England international will be playing under Wilder as Sheffield United's boss looks to pull his beloved club away from the relegation zone.

Past Conflict Involving Bamford and Wilder

The pair had history prior to Leeds won promotion back to the top flight last season and United were defeated in the playoff final to Sunderland. Wilder described Bamford as a "muppet" when the roles were reversed during the 2018-19 season and Sheffield United won direct promotion whereas Leeds fell short in the promotion playoffs.

Making Amends & Moving Forward

Everything seems has been resolved with United, the league's lowest scorers, urgently requiring of improvement in attack and Bamford looking to rejuvenate his playing days.

The song about Wilder went viral this spring. An apologetic Bamford along with Leeds boss, Farke, called the Sheffield United manager the next day.

Wilder said at the time: “Had a conversation with Patrick yesterday and I’ve no issue at all with it. I'm uncertain about the words used from a fellow pro! However I appreciated and respected him calling me.

“We had 20 minutes and similarly I spoke to Daniel too and had a half-hour chat together and he is a great person, a top guy. Back in my playing days we would dish it out and accept it and that is an integral part of football across all levels, even on Sunday league. I have no problem at all. I am cool with the situation and I told him that to Pat.”

Latest Playing Challenges

Bamford featured in 18 games for Leeds last season but the former Nottingham Forest, Chelsea and Boro striker has faced difficulties with injury in recent years.
